Almost entirely surrounded by national forest lands, the park encompasses over 241,000 acres. The fifth highest mountain in the continental United States, Mount Rainier reaches a whopping 14,000 feet. With over 600 campsites and 300+ miles of trails, outdoor activities include camping, hiking, biking, mountain climbing, snowshoeing, and sight-seeing. Hello, alpen glow.
Beyond Mount Rainier, parks and lakes are abundant in the local area. Nearby Lake Tapps is popular for boating and fishing. With 45 miles of shoreline, there’s plenty of room for sports, picnics, and enjoying the trails. Nearby Frontier Park, eight miles south of Puyallup, offers everything from equestrian and martial arts to ice skating and golf.
