From Ship to Shore: After 20,000 nautical miles, lifelong sailors put down roots at Tehaleh.

After 10 years of living on a 47-foot sailboat, Bob and Sherry Custer were ready to trade in their sea legs. By 2013, they had sailed nearly 20,000 nautical miles, going as far north as Skagway, Alaska and as far south as Manzanillo, Mexico.

“We were ready to settle down somewhere that satisfied our adventurous outdoor spirit, but that also gave us easy access to everything from grocery shopping to cultural activities,” said Sherry.

The Custers found their perfect place in Tehaleh, a master-planned community nestled in the forest near beautiful Bonney Lake. According to Sherry, Tehaleh was the perfect balance between the Northwest outdoor lifestyle and modern conveniences they were looking for.

Tehaleh promotes outdoor recreation of all kinds, with more than 1,000 acres of parks and open space nestled among sweeping vistas of Mt. Rainier.

Designed to maximize the proximity and views to Mount Rainier, the woods, wetlands, ponds, meadows and trails in the community form a strong, enduring connection among neighbors, intentionally integrating the forest and family-friendly environment.

Along with the Custers, many are finding their perfect home at Tehaleh. With eight builders offering flexible floor plans starting in the high $200’s, everyone from long-haul adventurers to weekend hikers can find their perfect fit.

As the Puget Sound’s best-selling community of new single-family homes, Tehaleh offers an incredible Pacific Northwest living and a sense of community like no other. The community’s more than 10 parks, more than 20 miles of trails and stunning views of Mount Rainier facilitate an outdoor lifestyle, where neighbors meet and connect organically.

“Visiting all the National Parks has always been on our bucket list,” said Sherry. “We never guessed we’d have one of them in our backyard.”
